Project Type:

Ottawa
Hospitality

The transformation of the Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites on Sparks Street marks a bold reimagining of a once-outdated structure into a contemporary dual-brand hotel that revitalizes its downtown Ottawa setting. The extensive renovation transformed the Delta and replaced the building’s heavy, opaque façade with a sleek glass curtain wall system that introduces transparency, rhythm, and natural light into the architecture. The bold grid of glazing contrasts elegantly against the retained brick elements, achieving a refined balance between preservation and modernity. A striking new porte-cochère anchors the entrance with a steel structure and clean-lined canopy, enhancing the pedestrian experience along Sparks Street. Inside, previously dormant areas like the pool and wellness zone have been gutted and are being rebuilt to meet current hospitality standards, framed in exposed concrete and steel. From the winter-clad demolition phase to the vibrant green wrap signaling progress, the redevelopment breathes new life into this once-monolithic presence, now tailored to meet the expectations of today’s urban traveller.
